In 1998 Kobayashi Yamato was working with a small growing games developer called Spector soft to create a commercial game for the sega dreamcast called “Pleasant Specter”. The deadline for the game was 2000. As they had very little staff Kobayashi worked and created all the sounds for the entire project on his own. Near the projects completion.. the main funder decided he did not like the story line and asked the team to basically re-write the entire story of the game. The pleasant specter team believed in their game soo dearly that they had lied to the funder to keep the project a float in hopes it would get passed him. unfortunately the project was terminated shortly after…
fast forward 14 years.. and while Kobayashi was moving out his house in shimokitazawa, tokyo to Okinawa he discovered his old hard-drive with some of the finished compositions and half finished files he had made for the game.
Thanks to a friends son he was introduced to vaporwave and decided to upload this amazing work of art and video game history to bandcamp.
